Caterpliiar 302.5 (140-4009) Tension Idler Assembly
This is the aftermarket tension idler for the Caterpillar 302.5 mini excavator. The tension idler mounts on the opposite end of the undercarriage from the sprocket and moves forward as you pump grease into the tensioner, tightening the rubber track. Many operators refer to this larger roller as the pulley, tension roller, or front idler.
This idler is a guaranteed-fit replacement. If you are unsure which version your machine uses, please contact United Skid Tracks for assistance.

- Mounting arm (yoke) length: 9.75 inches
- Mounting arm (yoke) width: 3 inches

172-2017 Tension Idler Assembly
This tension idler installs on the opposite end of the undercarriage from the sprocket. As grease is added to the tensioner, the idler moves outward to tighten the rubber track and maintain proper alignment. This larger front roller is also commonly referred to as the pulley.
If the mounting arms that slide into your track frame are shorter than 10.5 inches, then you need the alternate part number 140-4009

Because the only difference between the two assemblies is the yoke length, United Skid Tracks offers the idler wheel individually so you can reuse your existing mounting arms for a guaranteed fit. Reusing the mounting brackets is common practice among many manufacturers and dealerships.
